GTBank Increases SMS Alert Charges to ₦6 Amid Rising Telecom Costs
Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has announced an increase in its SMS transaction alert fee from ₦4 to ₦6, with the new rate taking effect on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
In a notification to customers on Wednesday, the bank explained that the price adjustment was necessary due to higher charges from telecom service providers.
“This adjustment is due to a recent increase in telecom rates as communicated by the telecommunication service providers,” GTBank stated.
The bank highlighted the importance of SMS transaction alerts in helping customers monitor and secure their accounts, adding, “Transaction alerts are important and help you keep track and stay in control of activities on your account.”
