IGP Orders Major Shakeup: 7 AIGs, 18 CPs Redeployed in Police Restructuring

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a major reshuffle in the Nigeria Police Force, ordering the immediate deployment of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to key strategic offices across the country.

Additionally, Egbetokun has directed the posting of 18 Commissioners of Police (CPs), who are due for promotion to AIG rank pending approval from the Police Service Commission (PSC), to various AIG-designated offices nationwide.

According to the IGP, this comprehensive redeployment aims to strengthen the force and enhance its operational efficiency.

The newly assigned AIGs include:

– AIG Margaret Ochalla – Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos

– AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo – Zone 13, Ukpo

– AIG Fred Ekokotu – Zone 11, Osogbo

– AIG Iwo Nemi Edwin Osigboka – Border Patrol Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja

– AIG Garba Ahmed – Department of Training and Development (DTD), Force Headquarters, Abuja

– AIG Salman Dogo – Zone 5, Benin

– AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu – Zone 9, Umuahia

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the changes, noting that the postings are part of broader reforms to improve the effectiveness of the police force.

Simultaneously, 18 Commissioners of Police, who are awaiting confirmation for AIG promotion, have been posted to strategic positions.

Adejobi outlined the assignments:

“CP Patrick Adedeji Atayero has been posted to Commandant, Police Academy, Kano; CP Tolani Alausa to AIG Zone 16, Yenagoa; CP Musibau Ajani to AIG Zone 17, Akure; CP Mobolaji Victor Olaiya to AIG DICT, Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Laolu Adegbite to AIG Interpol, Force Headquarters, Abuja….”

The full list includes postings across security zones, intelligence units, and specialized divisions such as Counter-Terrorism, Community Policing, and Communications.

Egbetokun has urged all officers affected by the reshuffle to approach their new roles with dedication and a commitment to professionalism.

“These deployments are integral to the ongoing revitalization of the Nigeria Police Force, and the IGP is confident that they will contribute significantly to enhanced security and improved service delivery across the nation,” Adejobi stated.

The IGP also emphasized the importance of strict supervision, accountability, and alignment with the ongoing police reforms aimed at boosting public trust in the force.
