10-Man Chelsea Hold Arsenal to 1-1 Draw in Fiery London Derby
Chelsea held Premier League leaders Arsenal to a 1-1 draw on Sunday despite going down to 10 men in a heated encounter at Stamford Bridge.
Moises Caicedo was sent off late in the first half for a dangerous foul on Mikel Merino, but Chelsea took the lead shortly after the break through Trevoh Chalobah, who headed in from a corner.
Arsenal, however, responded when Bukayo Saka weaved past Marc Cucurella and delivered a precise cross for Merino to head home the equaliser in the 59th minute.
Both sides pushed for a winner, with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez denying Saka and Merino in the closing stages, but neither team could break the deadlock.
Arsenal remain top of the table, five points ahead of Manchester City and six clear of Chelsea, but the draw meant they missed the chance to extend their lead over their title rivals.
