Authorities Suspect Inside Job, Launch Manhunt for Fugitives

At least twelve inmates have escaped from the Federal Correctional Centre in Kotonkarfe, Kogi State, in the early hours of Monday.

Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, revealed that the prisoners managed to flee through the tower without causing any visible structural damage, raising suspicions about the nature of the escape.

Fanwo emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation to uncover how the jailbreak occurred, track down the fugitives, and identify any potential accomplices within the facility.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals, warning that anyone caught sheltering an escapee would face consequences.

Despite the incident, authorities assured residents that there was no reason to panic, as security forces remained committed to safeguarding lives and property.
