Ekiti Court Remands 52-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Murder of 92-Year-Old Mother
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 52-year-old man, Ademilua Oni, in a correctional facility over the alleged murder of his mother, Comfort Oni.
The prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, informed the court that the tragic incident occurred on December 15 in Iropora-Ekiti, located in the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Adejare explained that the defendant allegedly murdered his 92-year-old mother during a confrontation. “While the defendant went to steal, the deceased challenged him over the act. In the process, he pushed the deceased, and she fell down and died,” the prosecutor said.
The offence, according to Adejare, contravenes Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021. He requested that the defendant be remanded in custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The court did not take the plea of the defendant.
Chief Magistrate Kehinde Awosika subsequently ordered his remand in the correctional centre and adjourned the case to January 30, 2025, for mention.
