200 People Benefit From Agricultural Inputs Across Niger

200 people, including Women and Youths across Niger State have benefited from critical Agricultural inputs on Tuesday.

The items distributed include seedlings, fertiliser, pesticides, livestock feeds and other farming equipment to farmers.Wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago flagged-off the distribution of the inputs in Minna.

FCNN gathered that the event was in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as well as the Wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago.

Flagging-off the distribution, Hajiya Fatima Bago described the initiative as a “planting for the future”, saying that the idea is particularly to empower women and youths whose potential when unlocked can transform Agricultural sector and secure the future of the nation.

The Wife of the Niger State Governor said the programme covers diverse areas of Agriculture such as crop farming, livestock production,poultry and aquaculture among others.

She emphasised that supporting women and youths with the Agricultural tools needed, would help them thrive in Agriculture, strengthen the chain of food production and build a more inclusive and resilient agricultural economy that will ultimately contribute to national food sufficiency.

The First Lady of Niger State appreciated the effort of the founder of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Niger State government and all others who made significant contributions towards making the programme successful.

She urged the beneficiaries to use the inputs wisely, let their farms become models of excellence and allow their success stories inspire others even as their progress would be monitored.

Special Adviser to the Governor of Niger State on Women Affirmative Action, Mrs Mary Noel-Berje said the programme fit into the New Niger Agenda of the Farmer Governor to harness the full potential of citizens particularly women by equipping them to drive agricultral and ensure food security.

She commended the effort of the wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and the Wife of the Niger State Governor for creating opportunities for women especially at the grassroots through proactive engagements.

The Special Adviser explained that out of the two hundred beneficiaries, 100 are women while the remaining 100 are youths including selected public school students in a bid to revive agriculture in schools.

In their separate goodwill messages , the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed and the Chairpersons, Nigeria Women in Agriculture Niger State Chapter, Mrs Victoria Alkali Yakubu appreciated the present administration in the State and at the Centre for their continued support to women and for including public schools in agricultural activities.

Symbolic presentations of the items were made to some beneficiaries including selected public schools.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organizers and promised to make judicious use of the tools to boost Agriculture in Niger State
