14-Year-Old Benue IDP Dies After Snake Bite

A 14-year-old internally displaced teenager, Chagu Terhemen, has died following a snake bite incident in Benue State.
Terhemen was bitten on Friday while accompanying his father to the farm at Tse Kyomke Mbapupuu in Gaambe Ushin Council Ward, Gwer West Local Government Area.
According to fellow displaced person, Terna Ibaah, the boy initially received traditional treatment but his condition worsened as he began convulsing. On Monday, the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), James Iorpuu, directed that the victim be taken to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, for medical care. Sadly, Terhemen passed away later that night, September 1.
