2027 Presidency: Olawepo-Hashim’s Supporters Storm Jos, Reject PDP Zoning Formula
Supporters of former presidential candidate and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, staged a peaceful protest at the PDP secretariat in Jos, Plateau State, to oppose the party’s zoning arrangement ahead of the 2027 general election.
The demonstrators, drawn from Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, marched through major streets of Jos chanting solidarity songs. They carried placards with inscriptions such as “Zoning is Injustice,” “North Central Must Be Heard,” and “Hashim 2027: A New Hope.”
The protest, which caused heavy traffic gridlock in some parts of the city, was closely monitored by security operatives who ensured order as the procession advanced towards the PDP state secretariat.

Upon arrival, leaders of the protesters submitted a petition condemning the party’s decision to zone the presidential ticket to the South.
They insisted the move undermines equity and fairness, arguing that the North Central, despite being a stabilising force in Nigeria’s politics, has never produced either a president or vice president since the country’s return to democracy in 1999.
