23 Killed in Naka, Apa, Governor Alia, Vows Swift Security Action
Benue State Governor has confirmed the death of 23 people following fresh, brutal attacks in two local government areas of the state—12 in Apa and 11 in Gwer West. The governor described the killings as “unacceptable” and vowed immediate action to halt the violence.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the loss of 23 innocent lives… due to brutal and unprovoked attacks,” the governor stated in an address after an emergency security council meeting held at the Government House.
In response, the governor has ordered the immediate deployment of joint security forces to the affected areas and surrounding communities. “Their mission is clear: stop the violence, sweep the communities, and restore peace,” he said.
He assured residents that the state government is mobilizing all available resources to protect lives and bring the perpetrators to justice. “We will not sit idle while our communities are turned into killing fields,” he emphasized.
The governor also expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and displaced persons, urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives on the ground.
