50-Year-Old Indiana Woman Arrested for Alleged Plot Against Trump
Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested on August 16, 2025, in Washington, D.C., over an alleged plot to kidnap and assassinate former President Donald Trump.
According to an August 18 press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Jones had posted graphic threats on Facebook and Instagram, including one in which she claimed she was “willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disembowelling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.” She also referred to an “arrest and removal ceremony” for Trump.
The U.S. Secret Service opened an investigation after linking the threats to Jones. In an August 15 interview, she reportedly admitted she would try to kill Trump “if given the opportunity,” saying it was revenge for lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. She later walked back the statement, insisting she no longer intended harm.
Jones now faces federal charges for threatening the president’s life and for transmitting interstate communications containing threats to kidnap or injure. Each charge carries a possible five-year prison sentence. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro emphasized, “Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution.”
Authorities also noted that Jones has a history of mental illness, which she referenced in her online posts. At present, there is no public record of her legal representation.
