Abducted Vigilante Found Dead With Mutilated Body After Herdsmen Clash
A tragic incident has shaken the Amakohia-Ubi community in Owerri-West Local Government Area of Imo State, as a vigilante abducted during a clash between herdsmen and local security operatives was found dead with his body severely mutilated.
The victim, Uche Ejiofor, was taken during the violent confrontation on Wednesday. His body was discovered in a nearby bush on Friday after two days of searching.
A community source confirmed that Ejiofor’s colleagues stumbled on his remains while combing the area.
“Yes, he has been found but in a gruesome state, his body was badly stabbed,” the source said. “We think they might have tried shooting him to death but couldn’t succeed, so they resorted to butchering him to death.”
The late vigilante’s body has since been deposited at the morgue, according to an indigene of the area.
The FCNN recalls that the clash erupted on Wednesday evening, August 19, 2025, when local vigilantes attempted to prevent herders and their cattle from invading farmlands.
