AC Milan Stun Juventus to Book Derby Clash with Inter in Italian Super Cup Final

AC Milan mounted a thrilling comeback to defeat Juventus 2-1 on Friday, earning a spot in the Italian Super Cup final against city rivals Inter Milan in Riyadh.

The match marked Sergio Conceicao’s debut as AC Milan coach, following his appointment earlier in the week to replace Paulo Fonseca.

Juventus took an early lead in the 21st minute when Kenan Yildiz capitalized on a defensive lapse by Theo Hernandez, slotting the ball past Mike Maignan to put the Turin side ahead.

However, AC Milan turned the game around in the second half of the semi-final, part of the four-team tournament being held in Saudi Arabia for the third consecutive year.

Christian Pulisic leveled the score with a 71st-minute penalty before Juventus defender Federico Gatti, under pressure, accidentally redirected the ball into his own net just four minutes later.

The Rossoneri now aim to clinch their eighth Italian Super Cup title and their first since 2016. Awaiting them in the final on Monday are Inter Milan, who secured their place with a commanding 2-0 victory over Atalanta, courtesy of a Denzel Dumfries double.
