ADC Acting Chairman Denies Resignation, Labels Circulating Letter Fake

The Acting National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Nafiu Bala, has refuted claims suggesting he resigned from his former role as Deputy National Chairman, describing a purported resignation letter in circulation as fake and maliciously crafted.

In a statement issued Friday in Abuja, Bala dismissed the letter—dated May 18, 2025—as entirely false, accusing certain individuals both within and outside the party of deliberately spreading misinformation.

Bala had officially assumed the role of Acting National Chairman on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja, following the resignation of his predecessor, Chief Ralph Nwosu. He emphasized that his elevation was in accordance with the party’s succession structure.

Reacting to the fake letter, Bala said:

“I wish to address a matter of utmost concern—a forged resignation letter allegedly authored by me and dated May 18, 2025. This document, which has been widely circulated by some mischievous elements, is entirely baseless and fraudulent.

“I categorically state that I have not resigned as the Deputy National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress. The falsehoods within the document, including its suspicious timing and glaring inconsistencies, point clearly to its illegitimacy.”

Bala further referenced a public statement made by Chief Nwosu on July 2, 2025, during an event at the Yar’Adua Conference Center in Abuja, where Nwosu announced his own resignation and confirmed that Bala had not stepped down from his position.

He also pointed out discrepancies between the forged letter and his official communications:

“All my official correspondence is issued on the ADC’s official letterhead, which includes our party’s emblem and insignia. This fake letter lacks any such identifiers and was typed on plain paper, highlighting its illegitimacy.”

Bala went on to question the legitimacy of those now presenting themselves as new party leaders, citing constitutional requirements.

“The ADC Constitution clearly states that anyone aspiring to leadership must be a registered member who has fulfilled all financial obligations for at least one year prior. This clause remains unchanged, and any contrary claim is invalid.”

He stressed the need for strict adherence to the party’s rules and called on party members and the public to remain vigilant against efforts to destabilize the ADC.

“Our party stands firmly on the pillars of democracy, integrity, and transparency,” Bala concluded. “I remain fully committed to the ADC and its mission to build a united and prosperous Nigeria. Together, we will stay the course and serve our people faithfully.”
