Deputy Senate President Speaks on Killing of Northern Travellers in Edo

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has seriously condemned the cruel killing of Northern travellers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State on Friday. He advised security agencies to carry action on those who committed the murder.

FCNN gathered that a mob intercepted the victims, who were Hausa hunters traveling to Kano for Sallah festival. The Invaders ransacked their vehicle and brutally murdered them in a ungodly manner

Describing the incident as barbaric and utterly reprehensible, Senator Barau urged the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies to swiftly investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President called for calm, reassuring Nigerians that those responsible would not evade justice. He further disclosed his plans to sponsor a motion in the Senate to ensure the matter is thoroughly addressed and those involved are held accountable.

“I have received numerous distress calls from my constituents and concerned Nigerians regarding the horrific murder of innocent citizens in Edo State. I vehemently condemn this senseless act of violence.

“I call on our security agencies to act swiftly in apprehending these criminals and ensuring they face the full weight of the law.

“Nigeria is a diverse and united nation. We must embrace one another as brothers and sisters to foster peace, progress, and national development,” he stated.

Senator Barau also offered prayers for the victims’ souls and expressed his condolences to their families. He urged them to remain calm and assured them that the government would take all necessary steps to ensure justice prevails.
