Airstrike Targets Bandits’ Wedding, Kills Dozens of Terrorists in Zamfara

The Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPFY) achieved a major breakthrough with precision airstrikes on terrorists gathered for a wedding ceremony at the base of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to the Nigerian Army, the operation was based on credible intelligence and targeted a large group of terrorists from the Faskari and Kankara areas of Katsina State, along with elements operating in Zamfara.
The airstrike reportedly killed several terrorists and left many others severely wounded. Injured fighters were later evacuated by their comrades to Yankuzo village for treatment.
Ground troops from 1 Brigade, under Sector 2 of OPFY, launched a follow-up assault, successfully repelling an ambush laid along the approach to the village.
A statement issued by OPFY spokesperson, Devid Adewusi, confirmed that the combined operations eliminated no fewer than 30 terrorists.
“Reliable sources and local residents have verified that at least 30 terrorists were neutralised during the air raid and subsequent ground assault,” the statement read.
Additionally, four known terrorist collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo village in Tsafe LGA were critically injured during the operation.
The successful offensive has brought a sense of relief to communities in Yankuzo, Tsafe, and surrounding areas, which have endured repeated attacks in recent months.
The OPFY has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and security across Zamfara and the broader North West region.
