Designed to accelerate digital innovation and attract critical investments, the event is set to play a pivotal role in transforming the state’s tech ecosystem and driving socioeconomic development.
According to a statement from the organisers, AKTW 2025 will spotlight the immense potential of Akwa Ibom’s youth while positioning the state as a future hub for digital innovation in Africa.
President of Ibom Innovation Network LTD/GTE, Hanson Johnson, described the initiative as a response to the urgent need for a platform that showcases local tech talent and connects it with global opportunities.
“We saw the need for a space that doesn’t just highlight talent but equips it with tools, knowledge, and access to capital,” Johnson said.
The event will focus on advancing digital transformation across sectors, attracting both local and foreign investments, and fostering innovation that creates jobs and enhances skills development. Johnson also expressed a bold vision for Akwa Ibom—to transition from being a technology consumer to becoming a creator and exporter of digital solutions.
AKTW 2025 will feature an impressive lineup of international tech leaders, visionary founders, angel investors, and venture capitalists interested in Africa’s fast-growing tech landscape.
Highlights include keynote speeches on AI and blockchain, panels with successful African tech unicorn founders, and hands-on workshops and masterclasses with industry experts.
A major feature of the event, the Career Fair, aims to connect young people directly with top tech firms and startups, offering access to internships and employment. Johnson described it as “a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and explore what the future holds in tech.”
Beyond the tech sector, the event is expected to boost tourism and stimulate the local economy.
The influx of participants and global attention is already driving increased hotel bookings and air traffic to the state, generating revenue and employment.
The organisers have also prioritised inclusivity, with specific strategies to ensure broad participation—especially from women, students, and underserved communities. These include targeted outreach, scholarships, subsidised tickets, and dedicated mentorship programs for women in tech and young innovators.

Odiong Akpan, a Director at Ibom Innovation Network, highlighted that the Career Fair alone will lead to significant job creation, while the venture showcases are expected to attract major investment commitments.
“We’re calling on everyone committed to digital innovation to join us—through our website, social media platforms, and outreach efforts. Together, we can build a digitally driven future for Akwa Ibom,” Akpan said.
