Amotekun Foils Robbery in Ogun, Rescues Injured Victim

Operatives of the Ogun State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, successfully thwarted a robbery attempt in the early hours of Saturday following a swift response to a distress call from Akinale town in the Ewekoro area of the state.
During the incident, which occurred around 1:20 a.m., a 28-year-old man identified as Opeyemi Olusanya sustained a gunshot wound to the upper part of his left leg.
According to a statement released by the Deputy Commander of the Operatives of the Ogun Amotekun Corps, Tajudeen Bakare, a team from the Ewekoro Command responded immediately to the call and rushed to the scene of the robbery.
Upon arrival, the operatives encountered the robbers attempting to flee in a wine-colored Kia Cerato with registration number KRD 840 JS—believed to be linked to one Ariwoola Wasiu of Ifesowapo Estate, Adunbu, Itori.
Bakare noted that, “At the sight of the combat-ready Amotekun operatives, the robbers fled into a nearby bush, abandoning their vehicle.
They escaped with valuables including eight high-end mobile phones, two laptops, jewelry, and cash amounting to ₦54,000.”
The abandoned vehicle has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Itori Division, which is now working in collaboration with Amotekun to investigate the incident and pursue the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, the gunshot victim, Olusanya, was immediately taken to a private hospital in Obada-Oko for treatment.
