Anambra Guber 2025: Ezenwafor emerges PDP flag bearer

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially named Chief Jude Ezenwafor as its candidate for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, scheduled for November 8, 2025.

The party’s primary election took place today at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, where Ezenwafor emerged unopposed.

As the sole aspirant to purchase the party’s nomination form, he became the automatic choice for the ticket.

In line with PDP’s democratic procedures, delegates still cast their votes using ballot papers inscribed with his name.

A total of 853 delegates participated in the exercise 839 from the state’s 21 local government areas and 14 national delegates.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to oversee the process.

Ezenwafor, a real estate developer based in Abuja, previously made headlines in 2022 when a faction of the Labour Party briefly named him its presidential candidate.

He later stepped aside, paving the way for Peter Obi’s widely recognized candidacy in the 2023 elections.

With Ezenwafor now officially on the ballot, the PDP joins other major parties in the race. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is backing incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is fielding Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu, while the Labour Party has chosen George Muoghalu.
