Tragic Loss of Police Inspector Following Arsenal Victory

A somber incident unfolded in Calabar on Tuesday evening when Inspector Stephen Enang, a devoted Arsenal supporter, tragically collapsed and died shortly after watching his team secure a 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in a thrilling match.
Inspector Enang, stationed at the Akim Police Division along IBB Way, hailed from Ekori in Cross River State’s Yakurr Local Government Area. According to multiple eyewitnesses, the officer had been watching the game at a local viewing center on Abang-Asang Street, where his exuberant celebrations turned fatal.
A close friend, who requested anonymity, described the harrowing sequence of events. “He was in high spirits throughout the match, cheering each goal passionately. After the final whistle, we realized he hadn’t moved from his seat,” the witness recounted. “He collapsed silently. We rushed him to Akim Police Hospital, but despite their efforts, he couldn’t be revived.”
Known among peers as a gentle, football-obsessed Arsenal fan, Enang’s sudden passing sent shockwaves through his community. The friend added, “He was the picture of health and happiness that evening. None of us imagined this outcome.”
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. Repeated attempts to contact Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo for clarification were unsuccessful, as calls and messages remained unanswered at the time of reporting.
As investigations continue, the incident underscores the unpredictable nature of sudden medical emergencies, even during moments of joy. Inspector Enang’s colleagues and friends mourn the loss of a man remembered for his quiet demeanor and unwavering love for the beautiful game.
