ARISE TV Anchor Killed in Abuja Armed Robbery

Tragedy has struck the Nigerian media industry as ARISE TV news anchor, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.

The 29-year-old broadcaster, fondly called “Sommie” by colleagues, reportedly lost her life in the late-night attack on Monday. Police authorities confirmed they have launched an investigation, though no suspects have been arrested as of press time.

Maduagwu was widely admired for her lively presentation style and strong connection with viewers. Since joining ARISE TV as a young journalist, she had carved out a reputation for professionalism and dedication in the newsroom.

Beyond broadcasting, she was also a trained lawyer and remembered as a supportive colleague and friend.

Her untimely death has plunged the ARISE family, her loved ones, and the wider media community into deep mourning.

She is survived by her parents, siblings, and extended family. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
