ASHA Microfinance Bank Hosts Medical Outreach, Sanitation Drive at Lagos Market

ASHA Microfinance Bank on Thursday carried out a medical outreach and sanitation exercise at Oyigbo Market in Lagos State as part of its ongoing ‘CLEAN-A-MARKET’ campaign.
The initiative, held at the market square, featured free health screenings for traders, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks. It also involved a joint cleanup exercise by the bank’s team and market traders, aimed at promoting environmental hygiene.
Speaking with reporters, ASHA’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Funmilola Paseda, said the campaign is designed to raise public health awareness and encourage active trader participation in maintaining a cleaner market environment.
“As part of our community outreach, the Clean-a-Market initiative helps promote hygiene through market sanitation while offering traders basic health checks such as blood pressure and temperature monitoring,” Paseda said.
She emphasized the bank’s broader commitment to women’s empowerment, financial inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
“We support women entrepreneurs and also create time to give back to our communities. Today, we’re helping clean the market and offering health checks. This is part of our contribution to a healthier and cleaner society,” she added.
Paseda further noted that ASHA had provided borehole systems to several communities where the bank operates, ensuring access to clean water.
Market traders welcomed the initiative with gratitude. A trader who identified herself as Dasola praised the effort, saying, “They helped us clean the market better than we usually do. Their donation will help us maintain this standard.”
Another trader expressed appreciation, saying, “It’s a great gesture. May God bless and prosper them.”
The event also featured donations of cleaning supplies, including refuse bins, brooms, aprons, and umbrella stands, to the market.
