
At least one person die as youths clash over girlfriend
At least one person has been confirmed dead following a clash between youths from Faruruwa and Tarandai villages in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State.
Sources told security our corespondent that the incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on May 23, at Faruruwa Market.
The clash, which escalated during a market day, led to the burning of several locally thatched temporary shops.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that one Sani Yunusa, 28, of Toho village in Takai LGA, had visited his girlfriend at Tarandai village. He was attacked with sticks and cutlasses by youths suspected to be from the rival village while returning home,” the police said.
Security operatives were quickly mobilised to the area to restore normalcy and prevent further violence.
Police sources said efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the attack, while investigations had commenced to unravel the root cause of the clash
