Police Search for Abductors of Two Women in Abuja
The FCT Police Command operatives have initiated a manhunt for suspected kidnappers after two women were abducted during an early morning attack in the Aco Mbawpe community on the outskirts of Abuja.
Security expert, Zagazola Makama, made this known on Wednesday in a post on X.
He stated that the incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday when gunmen reportedly invaded a residential area.
Makama further disclosed that sources within the command said the Divisional Police Officer of the Iddo Division received a distress call, prompting the immediate deployment of patrol teams to the scene.
While quoting police sources, he wrote, “Upon receiving the report, our patrol teams were swiftly deployed to the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the residence of one Fati Omale was invaded by the assailants, and she, along with another woman identified as Zainab Ibrahim, is believed to have been abducted to an unknown destination.
“In response to the incident, combined teams of police operatives from Iddo Division, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, as well as local vigilantes and hunters have commenced a massive search and rescue operation.”
The joint teams were, however, said to be combing the surrounding bushes and hills around the Aco Mbawpe area, a semi-rural settlement on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, in a bid to locate the abductors’ hideout and ensure the safe return of the victims.
FCNN reported in May that panic gripped residents of Gbazango Extension Relocation 2, along Arab Road in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, following a kidnapping incident.
Residents told our correspondent that gunmen stormed the community around 1am and abducted a male resident.
During the attack, one person was shot and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
