Nigeria Police Debunks Rumors Over SARS Dissolvement

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially debunked circulating rumors suggesting the return of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) under a reformed structure.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police reaffirmed that SARS remains disbanded and is not in operation.
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad was officially dissolved on October 11, 2020, following nationwide protests against police brutality. Despite recent speculation about its revival under new rules of engagement, the NPF has urged Nigerians to disregard such misinformation.
To curb the spread of false reports, the police advise citizens to verify information from credible sources before believing or sharing it.
