Bandits invade Zamfara community, kill eight people, burn primary school

The Rijiya Village in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State was on Wednesday, thrown into tension as gunmen suspected to be bandit attack and killed no fewer than eight people and burnt down a primary school.
Zagazola Makama, a -insurgency analyst in the Lake Chad region disclosed that the incident occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. when a group of armed bandits invaded the community, Shooting sporadically.
According to Makena: “Intelligence sources revealed that the armed assailants, wielding AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, launched a brutal assault on the village,”

It was gathered that among those killed were two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and six other civilians who were caught in the crossfire.
The bandits further set fire to a primary school building that was being used as a base by local security volunteers on fire.
“The destruction of the school underscores the brazen disregard these criminal elements have for education and community structures,” Makama said, calling the attack “a clear escalation of insecurity in Zamfara.”
