Bandits Strike Again in Kaduna, One Dead, Another Abducted in Hunkuyi

Hunkuyi, Kaduna State – Tragedy struck again in Kaduna as armed bandits invaded Hunkuyi town, the headquarters of Kudan Local Government Area, leaving one person dead and abducting another.

Residents confirmed that the victim abducted during the raid has been identified as Alhaji Shehu Dakin, a prominent community member. The gunmen reportedly stormed the area, shooting sporadically, which led to the killing of one resident whose identity is yet to be released.

This fresh assault comes barely 24 hours after another deadly attack in Southern Kaduna’s Kauru Local Government Area, where bandits killed seven people, mostly minors, and left eight others injured.

Locals in Hunkuyi expressed fear and frustration over the recurring wave of insecurity, lamenting that rural communities have become easy targets despite repeated government promises to restore peace.

As of press time, security agencies had not issued an official statement on the Hunkuyi attack. However, sources say combined security operatives have been deployed to forestall further violence and pursue the attackers.

Kaduna State has remained one of the hardest-hit states in Nigeria’s ongoing battle with armed banditry, with frequent attacks claiming lives, displacing families, and crippling local economies.
