Bauchi 70yrs Old Man arrested for luring, molesting teenagers with N500

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old man, Lawan Sani, for allegedly molesting three teenage girls after luring them with N500.

Sani, a security guard in the Unguwar Sarakuna area, was apprehended on September 1, 2025, following a failed attempt to assault a 16-year-old girl in the community.

Police spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday. He said operatives attached to the C Division, led by the DPO, SP Naziru Abubakar Pindiga, acted swiftly and caught the suspect in the act.

During interrogation, Sani confessed to luring one of the girls into his residence with N500. Further investigations revealed that he had also molested two other teenagers using the same method.

“The three victims confirmed the allegations and disclosed that the suspect had assaulted them over 15 times on different occasions, threatening them not to speak out,” Wakil said.

He added that the survivors had been taken for medical examination, while the command remained resolute in its commitment to tackling sexual crimes and other offences in the state.

Wakil quoted the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, as calling on residents to support police efforts in safeguarding communities.
