Unity Bank Partners with AfriGo to Promote Electronic Payments

Unity Bank Plc has partnered with domestic card scheme provider AfriGo to enhance card usage among its retail customers and drive greater adoption of electronic payments and financial inclusion in Nigeria.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a strategic business meeting at Unity Bank’s headquarters in Lagos, attended by AfriGo’s Executive Management team.

Unity Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Ebenezer Kolawole, emphasized the bank’s dedication to positioning the AfriGo card as a key channel for its services. “As a national domestic card scheme, AfriGo represents a vital local solution capable of transforming Nigeria’s card payment ecosystem,” he said.

Kolawole assured continued support for the rollout of AfriGo cards across Unity Bank’s network and encouraged AfriGo to intensify public awareness efforts to boost acceptance.

AfriGo’s Managing Director, Ebehijie Momoh, commended Unity Bank for its strong support, noting that the bank ranks among the top five adopters of the AfriGo card. He highlighted AfriGo’s role in promoting financial inclusion and its ongoing innovations, including instant payment features and offline transaction capabilities for underserved markets.

Momoh also pointed to the success of contactless payment solutions like Tap & Go, which enhance convenience for everyday users. He expressed optimism about leveraging Unity Bank’s expansive retail footprint to strengthen e-payment penetration across the country.
