The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a two-week total and comprehensive warning strike across all public universities in Nigeria, starting Monday, October 13.

ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, said the decision followed the government’s failure to address long-standing issues, including unpaid allowances, poor funding, and unfulfilled agreements.

All academic activities — lectures, exams, and administrative duties — are to be suspended nationwide. The union says the strike is a warning, giving the government 14 days to act before a possible indefinite shutdown.

Students and parents have expressed frustration, urging both sides to reach a lasting solution to prevent further disruption to the academic calendar.
