Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has officially flagged off the construction of the Zariagi International Airport following the signing of a contract with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company at the Government House in Lokoja.
The airport project is a major strategic investment by the state government aimed at driving economic growth and transforming Kogi into a key commercial hub. It is expected to significantly enhance air transportation, improve connectivity, and provide easier access to both domestic and international markets.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ododo noted that the project would facilitate the efficient movement of agricultural produce and mineral resources, thereby strengthening trade opportunities across the state and beyond. He added that the development would also attract investors, create employment opportunities, and stimulate broader economic activities.
The construction will be handled by the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), with assurances of adherence to global aviation standards and timely delivery. Once completed, the Zariagi International Airport is expected to position Kogi State as a critical gateway for commerce and investment in Nigeria.
