Renowned Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has died. His death was confirmed by his Personal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid, on Friday, sending waves of mourning across the country.
Alhaji Dantata, who passed away at the age of 93, was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business landscape and a highly respected elder statesman from Kano State. He was the last surviving son of the legendary Alhassan Dantata, a prominent merchant and patriarch of the Dantata business dynasty.
Aminu Dantata held numerous influential positions in both the private and public sectors. He was a key player in Nigeria’s industrial and commercial development, especially in the northern region. Over the years, he expanded the family’s business interests into construction, agriculture, trading, and oil services through Dantata Organization Limited.
Aside from his business legacy, Dantata was widely known for his philanthropy. He made significant contributions to education, healthcare, and religious causes, earning him reverence among both leaders and the masses. He was also a strong advocate of peace and unity in Nigeria and played quiet but impactful roles in national affairs.
