Four months after the lifeless body of 23-year-old Grace Godwin was found by the roadside in Life Camp, Abuja, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended two suspected “one chance” robbers believed to be responsible for her death.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stated that on Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Command received a distress call reporting the discovery of an unconscious woman along Iya Abubakar Street, Life Camp.

Officers immediately moved to the scene and identified the victim as Miss Grace Godwin. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed she was dead.

According to Adeh, preliminary investigations showed that Grace had left work the previous day, Friday, July 11, and boarded what appeared to be a commercial vehicle — later identified as one operated by a “one chance” syndicate.

“With the use of digital forensic and intelligence tools, operatives tracked down and arrested two suspects: Kabiru Abdullahi, 25, and Solomon Tanko, 35,” Adeh revealed.

Further investigation uncovered that both suspects were acquaintances of the victim, as they all resided in the Dape community. During the robbery, Grace reportedly recognised the men, leading to a violent struggle.

“In the course of the confrontation, Kabiru Abdullahi strangled her with a plastic nylon bag after she bit his finger in self-defence,” Adeh explained.

Items recovered from the suspects included a golden Toyota Camry (“Pencil Light”) and plastic nylon bags allegedly used during the crime.

Adeh also confirmed that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang still at large.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, extended his condolences to the deceased’s family and assured residents that the FCT Police Command remained resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property across the territory.
