BREAKING: President Tinubu Scraps Niger Delta, Sports Development Ministries, Merges Others

President Bola Tinubu, during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, has announced the dissolution of the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development. This decision was made public on Wednesday through a statement by Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the FEC has introduced a new Ministry of Regional Development, which will now oversee all regional development commissions. These include the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.

Additionally, the National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities previously held by the Ministry of Sports Development.

In the statement, Onanuga wrote, “President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development. A new Ministry of Regional Development will now oversee the regional development commissions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission. The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.”

The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, as part of the decisions reached at the meeting in Abuja.
