Police Arrest Two for Stealing Church Generator Battery in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing a generator battery from a church in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said operatives from the State Intelligence Department apprehended 20-year-old Dad Yusuf and 17-year-old Gibson Husseini, both residents of Upper Luggere, in connection with the theft.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested on June 28, 2025, and confessed to stealing a 100Ah Mikano generator battery from the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria Cathedral, Jimeta, on June 23 at about 11:00 p.m.

Nguroje added, “Investigation is ongoing to identify more accomplices and recover additional stolen items.”

He also confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
