BREAKING: Travellers stranded on Maiduguri–Damaturu highway after Boko Haram attack

Hundreds of travellers have been left stranded along the Maiduguri–Damaturu Highway following an overnight Boko Haram attack on a military base along the route.

The Nation gathered that the insurgents launched the assault on the Ngamdu Military Super Camp late Thursday night. The camp is situated less than 50 kilometres from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.

As a result, security operatives have cordoned off the highway from both ends to prevent further incidents, leaving passengers travelling between Maiduguri and Damaturu trapped on the road.
