BSU Alumnus Donates Groundbreaking Pidgin & Slangs Dictionary to Vice-Chancellor
In a heartwarming gesture of appreciation and academic pride, a distinguished alumnus of Benue State University (BSU), Marcus Ijioma, has donated copies of his newly published book, “Dictionary of Nigerian Pidgin & Slangs,” to the institution.
The donation was made during a brief ceremony held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room. Ijioma, who graduated with a B.A. in Linguistics in 2007, described the presentation as a token of gratitude for the academic grounding he received at BSU—an experience he says played a crucial role in his journey toward authoring the dictionary.
“This visit and book presentation are my way of saying thank you to BSU for the solid academic foundation that helped shape my intellectual path,” Ijioma remarked.
Receiving the books on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tor Joe Iorapuu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Mike Odugbo Odey, lauded the contribution, emphasizing its value to linguistic studies and cultural research. He also encouraged other alumni to follow suit in supporting the university’s academic mission.

The University community has welcomed the donation as a valuable addition to its library resources and a symbol of alumni impact.
