China Reinforces Commitment to Enhancing Africa Cooperation Amid FOCAC Roadmap

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reiterated the nation’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Africa through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). At a joint news conference with President Denis Nguesso in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, Wang announced the launch of a new roadmap for the forum’s growth over the next three years.

“In the next three years, a series of meetings and events, including a coordinators’ meeting on the implementation of the follow-up actions of the ministerial conference of FOCAC, the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, and the 10th FOCAC Ministerial Conference will be held,” Wang said.

The roadmap aims to implement outcomes from the 2023 Beijing summit, where China and African leaders adopted a declaration to jointly build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

Wang praised FOCAC as a symbol of China-Africa solidarity and cooperation, emphasizing its role in driving Africa’s development. “Since the forum’s establishment, China has helped Africa build 100,000 kilometres of roads, more than 10,000 kilometres of railways, nearly 1,000 bridges, and almost 100 ports, creating over one million jobs in Africa over the past three years,” he added.

He also stressed China’s readiness to support Africa’s green and low-carbon development agenda, particularly through clean energy projects and the Africa Solar Belt initiative.

Wang concluded by reaffirming China’s readiness to tackle climate change and work with Africa to achieve sustainable development goals.
