The Chief Executive Officer of Fusion Chronicles Newspaper, Sani Wilson Enemona, has strongly criticized Nigerians who recently staged protests over the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, describing the action as a misplaced priority in the face of Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
Speaking in a statement issued on Sunday, Sani Wilson Enemona expressed concern that while banditry, kidnapping, and attacks on rural communities continue to plague several parts of the country, there has not been a comparable level of nationwide outrage or coordinated protests demanding urgent domestic action.
According to Enemona, communities across Northern Nigeria and other affected regions face daily threats from armed groups who abduct residents, extort farmers, and disrupt livelihoods. He questioned why similar mass mobilization has not been directed toward addressing these persistent security challenges.
While acknowledging that peaceful protest remains a constitutional right in a democratic society, the Fusion Chronicles CEO emphasized that national focus should prioritize issues directly affecting Nigerian citizens. “Nigeria’s pains must come first,” Enemona stated, urging citizens to hold leaders accountable for tackling insecurity and protecting lives and property.
His remarks have generated mixed reactions, with some Nigerians agreeing that domestic concerns deserve greater attention, while others maintain that citizens have the right to express solidarity with global developments.
