60-Year-Old Man Arrested for Alleged Rape in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Ajayi Femi, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman.

In a statement obtained by reporters on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly spiked the victim’s drink, causing her to lose consciousness before sexually assaulting her.

The incident occurred on August 22, 2025, and was initially reported by the victim’s sister at the Meiran Police Station before being transferred to the command’s Gender Unit for further investigation.

According to the statement, medical examinations corroborated the victim’s account, while the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

He has since been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings.

“The command remains committed to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences,” Hundeyin added.
