Tinubu Appoints AVM Saddiq Kaita as Chairman of Bayero University Governing Council
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Saddiq Ismaila Kaita as the new Pro-Chancellorl and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano.
Kaita replaces Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who also serves as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). According to a statement issued Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the leadership change is to enable Dr. Gawuna focus on his responsibilities at the FHA.
AVM Kaita, a distinguished military officer, held several high-ranking positions during his service in the Nigerian Air Force, including Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation.
He is noted for advancing institutional reforms and improving training standards within the military.

In his new role, Kaita is expected to leverage his experience in strategic planning and institutional development to support the continued growth and excellence of Bayero University, one of Nigeria’s leading higher education institutions.
