Court Strikes Out SDP’s Moses Peter’s Case, Affirms Suspension
The Kogi State High Court sitting in Ajaokuta struck out a case filed by Mr. Moses Peter (popularly known as Oricha) against the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its National Working Committee (NWC).
Mr. Peter had challenged his suspension from the party over alleged anti-party activities during the 2023 general and governorship elections in Kogi State.
However, in her ruling, the presiding judge dismissed the case, declaring it incompetent and improperly filed. Citing Sections 95, 96, and 97 of the Sheriffs and Civil Process Act, the court ruled that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

Additionally, the judge described other issues raised by Mr. Peter particularly those relating to his fundamental rights and tenure as defined by the SDP constitution as “academic” and outside the court’s jurisdiction.
This ruling effectively upholds the decision of the SDP’s NWC, which had earlier suspended Mr. Peter for activities deemed to undermine the party.
With the case now dismissed, Mr. Peter remains suspended from the SDP.
