A tragic case of betrayal and armed robbery has shaken Patiko community in Kwara State when a young POS operator, Bilyaminu Yanda was abducted and robbed by a man he believed to be a trusted customer.

According to the victim, the suspect, a Yoruba man who had frequented his business initially withdrew ₦100,000 and asked Bilyaminu to hold the cash on his behalf. Days later, the man contacted him again with an unusual request for a larger amount of money and directed him to a meeting point, promising to cover transport and service charges.

“He called after five days and said he needed the ₦100,000 and more cash. He told me to meet him at a certain location, assuring me he would pay my fare and charges. When I got there, he was with three other men. He asked for ₦1.4 million, which I handed over immediately,” Bilyaminu recounted.

The situation quickly escalated into a nightmare. After giving them the money, he was asked to join them in their car, only to be ambushed inside.

“As soon as I got into the car, all four of them pointed guns at me. I was helpless. They blindfolded me with a rag, so I couldn’t see anything. They took me to a place I didn’t recognize,” he narrated in distress.
