Dangote Cement to Commission New Grinding Plant in Côte d’Ivoire

Dangote Cement Plc has announced plans to commission its new 3 million tonnes per annum (Mta) grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire by the third quarter of this year.

The facility is expected to boost the company’s market presence in Africa and strengthen its export capacity.

In a statement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Cement, Arvind Pathak, expressed optimism about the continued growth of the company’s export operations. “Export volumes from Nigeria rose by 18.2%, with 18 successful clinker shipments dispatched to Ghana and Cameroon. This highlights the growing relevance of our pan-African presence and commitment to regional trade and self-reliance,” he said.

Pathak noted that the company remains focused on long-term value creation and has made notable progress in reducing operational costs. “We began the phased rollout of 1,600 new CNG-powered trucks during the period. These will significantly lower logistics costs and improve our environmental footprint,” he added.

Reflecting on the company’s Q2 financial performance, Pathak cited improvements in key macroeconomic indicators and emphasized that Dangote Cement’s operational efficiency and cost-control strategies are yielding strong results. “Group EBITDA rose by 41.8% to ₦944.9 billion, while Group profit surged by 174.1%. This exceptional performance underscores our disciplined execution, cost leadership, and strategic investments,” he stated.

Dangote Cement is Africa’s largest cement producer, with a total installed capacity of 52.0Mta across the continent. In Nigeria, the company operates a fully integrated production model with a capacity of 35.25Mta. Its flagship plant in Obajana, Kogi State, is the largest in Africa with 16.25Mta across five production lines. The Ibese plant in Ogun State has four lines with a total capacity of 12Mta, while the Gboko plant in Benue State contributes 4Mta, and the Okpella plant in Edo State adds another 3Mta.

Through sustained investments, Dangote Cement has helped eliminate Nigeria’s reliance on imported cement and positioned the country as a net exporter of cement and clinker to neighbouring markets.
