Tiwa Savage recounts surviving leaked tape scandal

Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has spoken about how she overcame the 2021 leak of her intimate video, which followed an attempted blackmail and became one of the most challenging moments of her life.
In a YouTube interview with Zeze Mills, Savage described the incident — along with her father’s passing — as the lowest point in her career.
“My dad died, and my s3x tape was released. The only way I could have survived was by not thinking about it,” she said.
The singer explained that choosing not to dwell on the scandal helped her heal, adding that she remains grateful for opportunities to share her journey.
“Being here on the couch with you is such a blessing. Just the fact that you want to talk to me, that people still want to hear from me after so many years, feels good. I’ve gone through so much, but have I really enjoyed the moment?” she reflected.
On her love life, Savage revealed she has never truly experienced love despite her age and past relationships.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at my relationships, I realise it wasn’t love — just infatuation. Even when I was married, I don’t think I experienced true love,” she admitted.
