Three Suspected Phone Snatchers Apprehended in Jos
Three suspected phone snatchers were apprehended on Thursday in Jos following a dramatic chase involving a motorcycle rider and the victim, Ayuba Yusuf, a student of Plateau State Polytechnic.
The incident occurred after Yusuf, who had just completed his clearance at the institution, boarded a tricycle heading to Miango Junction. However, he was unexpectedly dropped off at the Old Airport Roundabout, where the suspects attempted to rob him.
Speaking to our correspondent at the scene, Yusuf said he raised an alarm immediately, prompting a swift response from a nearby motorcycle rider, Takwen Bitrus, and another tricycle operator. The suspects were chased and eventually intercepted at the Mobil filling station opposite the Polytechnic.
An angry mob attempted to lynch the suspects, but they were rescued and handed over to officers at the Anglo Police Division.
Bitrus, who played a crucial role in the arrest, said he was driven by his own past ordeal with tricycle criminals who once stole his phone and cash.
The suspects, including the tricycle rider involved in the act, are now in police custody and are expected to face charges.
