Davido Taps Cobhams Asuquo as Musical Director for Global ‘5ive Alive’ Tour

Grammy-nominated Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially announced acclaimed producer and musician Cobhams Asuquo as the musical director for his highly anticipated “5ive Alive” world tour.

In a video shared via his Instagram page, Davido expressed his excitement over the collaboration, describing Cobhams’ contributions to the tour as extraordinary. The tour, which is expected to span nearly 20 arenas around the globe, is already generating buzz among fans and music insiders.

“He is the ‘5ive’ Alive musical director of the world tour. Almost 20 arenas, it’s going to be crazy.”

Davido also revealed that he was deeply impressed by what Cobhams had prepared so far, indicating a promising synergy between the two creatives.

“Today is the first time I heard what he’s been working on, and I’m blown away. It’s time to get to work and start rehearsing,” he said.

The tour follows the release of Davido’s fifth studio album, 5ive, which dropped on April 18. The 17-track project features a mix of international and African artists, including Jamaican stars 450 and Shensea, South African sensation Musa Keys and American artists Chris Brown and Becky G.

Nigerian hitmakers Victony, Odumodublvck, Chike and Omah Lay also make appearances on the genre-blending album, which includes tracks such as “5ive,” “Anything,” “Be There Still,” and “Holy Water.”

With Cobhams on board and a global lineup in tow, the 5ive Alive tour is shaping up to be one of the biggest Afrobeats events of the year.
