Man Arrested for Shooting Friend After Argument at Abuja Guest House

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe for allegedly shooting his friend, Andrew Philemon, following a heated argument at Najob Guest House in Bwari. The incident occurred last Thursday when police responded to a distress call about gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Philemon severely injured from a gunshot.
Nwigwe, armed with a pump-action rifle, claimed he shot in self-defense after the argument escalated. Police arrested him at the scene and later searched his residence, uncovering a large cache of weapons. Among the items seized were five Dane guns, an AK-47 magazine with 29 live rounds, a sword-stick, a taser, a bulletproof vest, and police uniforms.
Philemon is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja. Nwigwe remains in custody as investigations continue. Police officials stressed the importance of tackling violent crime and warned against illegal firearm possession. FCT Police Commissioner, Tunji Disu, urged citizens to actively participate in ensuring community safety.
