Delta University Student Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Colleague

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a student, identified simply as Prince, for allegedly stabbing a fellow student named Peace on the campus of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the incident in a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, which was viewed by City Round.
According to Edafe, the suspect lured the victim—a 100-level student—to the university auditorium, where he allegedly stabbed her twice in the neck and chest using a kitchen knife.
In the video, Edafe displayed the weapon and the victim’s mobile phone, both recovered from the suspect. He added that Peace remains in critical condition at a hospital.
“With me are a phone and a kitchen knife, which was used in an attempt to murder a 100-level student,” Edafe said. “On June 14, the suspect invited his friend, Peace, to the school auditorium, where he stabbed her multiple times. He then took her phone and contacted her father, claiming she had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of ₦2 million. He later reduced the demand to ₦200,000, not knowing the victim had survived.”
While unconscious, Peace reportedly mentioned Prince’s name, prompting the university management to launch a search for him.
He was eventually located and taken into custody.
During interrogation, Prince confessed to knowing Peace for about a month and admitted that he had planned to kill her to extort ransom from her father.
“She didn’t offend me in any way,” he said. “We were discussing school matters when she unlocked her phone for me. That’s when I stabbed her. The account I planned to use belonged to a friend in Lagos, and I intended to inform him that money had been deposited.”
