“Don’t Pray for Me, I’m Going to Rest” — Cleric’s Final Words Stir Hearts After Fatal Crash

The Christian community in Kaduna is mourning the loss of Reverend David Ayuba Azzaman, a beloved cleric whose final moments were marked by calm faith and spiritual strength.

Rev. Azzaman was involved in a tragic accident while traveling from Benue State to Kaduna. He was rushed to the hospital unconscious, along with other victims.

According to an eyewitness account, after regaining consciousness, the reverend inquired about the others and was relieved to hear they were safe. When those by his side suggested praying for his recovery, he responded with quiet certainty: “Why should you pray for me when I am going to rest?”

He then began to sing Wata Rana, a well-known Hausa gospel hymn about eternal peace and reunion with God. Shortly after finishing the song, he peacefully passed away.

His serene and faith-filled passing has moved many online, sparking a wave of tributes celebrating his deep devotion and courage in the face of death.
