DSS arrests blogger for cloning website for fake recruitment

A blogger, Sylvester Victor Augustus, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for cloning its official website to defraud unsuspecting public members through a fake recruitment scheme.

Augustus, 32, who hails from Akpan Eno Street in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was arrested by DSS operatives on Thursday after being traced to his residence.

The agency noted that the suspect who claims to be a content creator and graduate of the University of Uyo, created a fake DSS website to falsely advertise a recruitment drive, aimed at extorting money from individuals under the guise of job applications.

However, the DSS has out rightly disclaimed the fake recruitment announcement as well as describing it as a scam, warning the public to disregard it.

“He will soon be arraigned in court,” a DSS source confirmed on Friday morning in Abuja.
